Grampa Is Here

Dear Baby Faulkner,
I am here.

Do you see that couch? Grampa is sitting on that couch and writing you this little note today. Want to guess where you are?

You are still swimming around in your little cocoon, going wherever your mother goes.

I just want to give you a heads up.

If you think you might want to come and visit with Grampa and Lala, we will be here for the next couple of days.

It really would be no problem for you to come out and play.

You have to cut the apron string sometime, if you know what I mean.

But I like the fact that you are taking charge of this event.

After all, it is your life.

But we just can't wait to be a part of it.

Love You Baby Faulkner,

Grampa

Baptism and New Birth

Dear Baby Faulkner,
No, that is not a picture of you in the above but it is a picture of the anticipated miracle to come very soon. Today Grampa is baptizing your cousin Caroline Jo. I would be remiss to not think of you on this day also, as you make your way through the waters of your physical birth.
As we pray for Caroline and her spiritual birthing, we also remember your journey.
May you already be encircled by the great mystery we call God and all the grace that abounds in the center of that mystery.

We Love you,
Grampa

Happy (Mother in waiting) day!

Dear Baby Faulkner,
So here you were last week when we were at your new home. And there you still are on this Mother's day, May 8, 2011.

So Grampa just wanted to recognize this precious Mother who is nurturing you already.

This mother of yours has a wonderful engaging spirit and I am sure all kinds of neat ideas about the life she will have with you.

Next year at this time you can just put your arms around her and give her a big old hug for a Mother's day present.

But for right now, just keep growing.

We are waiting with great anticipation!

And I know she is.

Love you,
Grampa

Crazy Grampa or Reaching again from the womb?

Dear Baby Faulkner

I had a dream two nights ago. Only this morning did I put meaning to that dream. I was sitting in front of a mirror and when I looked into the mirror there was a face with blonde hair. Initially I thought that was just a dream about me thinking I had my hair that I use to have as a young man. Now I think it was the little one who is to come soon. It was a boy in the dream.

We shall see if I am crazy, still grieving my hair loss or if you have reached out to me in a dream just like Caroline did. It was just about the same time that I had the dream about Caroline.

For what it’s worth!

Love
Grampa

Tuesday, May 3, 2011

Dear Baby Faulkner,

Grampa had dinner for the first time at your new house this past weekend. This is what the table looked like. Look how pretty it was.
Grampa looks forward to having many more opportunities to break bread with you.
You are going to discover that great food and great conversation is a lot of what we are about when we all get together.

Love,
Grampa
