Love In A Moment

Sweet Alice,

Grampa had an absolutely great time with you this past weekend. Grampa’s favorite time was when you let me hold you in church. You rested your little cheek on my face and let me just hum a little tune in your ear. And there we were again, just being together.

I really can’t put into words the kind of love a grandparent has for a grandchild. Words would just mess it all up.

But I can tell you the feeling I had in that moment.

I can tell you that moment in time with you, just letting me hold you like that, was a time when nothing else was needed.

Maybe that is part of what the experience of love is Alice.

A time when nothing else is needed.

Thank you for that moment of love Sweet Alice!

Love you,

Grampa

SUNDAY HAIKU FOR YOU

Cool Sabbath morning,
Saw you roll over today.
Falling into Fall.

Dedicating You Too Love and Wholeness

Sweet Alice,
Next Sunday your mother and daddy are presenting you to your church community in an act of dedicating you to all that God would have you to be.
Along with your Mother and Daddy, that community will be a part of your life, pointing you to those things that matter.

Alice, grampa will also be someone in your life who, with the grace of that mystery we call God, wants to point you to "those things that matter".
Everything I point you to will not necessarily be the right thing. Sometimes I will point you to an opinion instead of a fact.
That's when you have to investigate on your own.

This dedication is part of the beginning of your spiritual journey.
When you are able to think and reflect on these things which have been presented to you through your parents, your church community and through grampa...

BE SURE TO INVESTIGATE ON YOUR OWN.
WHATEVER YOUR FAITH BECOMES AS YOU MATURE,
IT MUST BE YOUR FAITH.
NOT MOTHER'S , NOT DADDY'S, NOT GRAMPA'S, NOT EVEN YOUR CHURCH.
YOU MUST COME TO KNOW AND BELIEVE WITHIN YOURSELF.
So next Sunday we all acknowledge that there is something bigger than you, bigger than mother, bigger than daddy, bigger than grampa, bigger than church.

And we hope to be a part of helping you to realize that.

I love you Alice. And that is a good place for all of us to begin.

Bows,
Grampa

WHO ARE YOU?

Sweet Alice,
How many faces do you have?

Someone asked a long time ago, “What did you face look like before your parents were born?”
Strange question!

Another person said this, “If you find your true self, you will find God”
More mysterious words!

Obviously you have many faces! Just look at what your daddy sent to me.

Where is the real Alice in those faces?
Looking for “ourselves” is a spiritual thing Alice.
Finding our true selves is a spiritual experience Alice.

You keep looking and one day you will SEE!

How do we look for our true selves?

Well not out there somewhere!

We have to look inside Alice.

And there is a way to do that.

Ask me someday and I will tell you about it.

Love You,
Grampa

SUNDAY HAIKU FOR BOTH OF YOU

9/11/11

One day you will ask,
"Why did they do that to us?"
So many answers!

When you ask that question and when you get some answers, please come back right her and read these words that follow.

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
there is a field.  I'll meet you there.

When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.

Ideas, language, even the phrase each other
doesn't make any sense.

May your life go well!
